As a change from the pond, a male blackbird has opted for the birdbath on the patio, fending off the sparrows who try to squeeze in as if it was a health spar jacuzzi. In fact there's barely room for the blackbird to work up the water into a power shower and it looks like the first step-by-step illustration for a low calorie version of the recipe for 'Four-and-twenty blackbirds, baked in a pie'.

When the blackbird has finished, the sparrows move in. There's room for three but when a fourth, a male, arrives, he's soon persuaded to leave.
