Long-tailed Tits
29 January 2014
Collected at Llanddwyn Bay, Anglesey, September 2000
There are fifty-odd crows but not a single golfer in evidence on the hill-top end of the golf course at Midgley.
Hazel catkins add a springtime touch of pale yellow at the edge of the drab winter plantations of Bullcliff Woods.
Four o'clock feed
A small band of long-tailed tits appears every day at the end of the afternoon, attracted to the fat block. They prefer the fat block, the premium version including mealworm fragments, which we bought at the RSPB shop at Old Moor, to the regular fat balls from the farm store at the end of the road.
They'll give way to the bossy blue tit and peck at the sunflower hearts until the fat block is free again.
