During ten minutes at lunchtime these were some of the birds that came to the feeders.

The wood pigeon likes to sit on the mesh tray, filling its crop with grain.

Greenfinches have a preference for sunflower seeds and I've now started putting sunflower seeds in the feeder I used to fill with a wild bird seed mixture. They'll also go for peanuts and occasionally for the niger seed.

Goldfinches are on the niger feeder most of the day but they'll also go for the sunflower seed. They've started occasionally visiting the sunflower feeder in the front garden too.

Considering that these colourful finches were infrequent visitors in past years, I'm delighted that these days you're more likely to see them than not.

blackbirdivy berriesAt the front the ivy berries are still attracting the blackbirds, there's a single male there this morning, while a wagtail (not sure whether this is pied or grey) perches on the rooftop next door. Next Page
