You
can't be sure that there weren't be a frost in May and, sure enough, the
top leaves of our Kestrel potatoes have been caught in
the frost on a couple of nights. They'll soon recover though.
I've been sitting at the patio table most of the day, writing about the
pleasures of the garden and about the pleasures of drawing it. By four
o'clock I just had to take a break and draw something, instead
of just writing about it. The potatoes were the first things that I saw
that appealed to me.
