Sycamores

Richard Bell’s Wild West Yorkshire nature diary, Saturday, 29th March, 2008

sycamoreHARD TO BELIEVE that there's still such a wintry aspect if you look in some directions. Daffodils and crocuses are out, bright green buds are showing on the hawthorn hedge but these sycamores at Barbara's sister's house aren't ready for spring just at the moment.

I drew them with 0.3 mm Pilot Drawing Pen adding colour in the usual way, from my pocket watercolour box using the Pentel Aquash water-brush. The warm tone comes from the 6 inch square (15 x 15cm) Pink Pig sketchbook that I've just started using again; it's a fairly smooth acid-free cartridge in pale yellow.
