I’M AWARE that I have a train to catch - a steam train, of course - as I draw this tank engine in the Railway Museum at Port Erin. The English firm that made the locomotives for the Manx Steam Railway ceased production in 1965 so since then they have had to rely on the ingenuity and resourcefulness of their engineering team for spare parts.

A Cottage at Colby Glen

We’re staying at Thie-ny-Soalt, a modern bungalow in the grounds of this converted barn, 5 minutes walk from the village station on Colby Glen Road.

As my right arm is supposed to be taking a holiday, I’ve drawn the barn (and the Manx honey etc) with my left hand in Mitsubishi uniball eye micro roller tip pen with Winsor & Newton watercolour added, as usual, with my Pentel Aqash water-brush.
