Ospreys at Easter

Richard Bell, spring/summer 1971

I was on afternoon watch. A female osprey came and settled on the eyrie this morning. It went away but came back about 3.00. The news of its arrival was on television in the evening.

Business like beetles, heads down sensitive antenae search continuously.

Going out along the moor road I stopped under a birch tree full of 24 waxwings. They made the constant squeaky buzzing

The bird is a Goldeneye which I drew flying to the opposite direction to that in which it was really going.

John and I went on a walk along the foot of Craigowrie towards Milton.
