MY MUM recalled the time a few years ago when my sister, Linda, and family, were visiting and suggested taking a look at the old cine films;
- First the cine bulb went. There wasn't a spare, so they took out the old one and put it on one side so they'd know what type to get as a replacement.
- A few days later my brother, Bill and family called and asked to see the films. As the cine was still out of action they got out the slide projector. The bulb went.
- Then the spare bulb went.
- They called me to borrow my projector. The bulb went in that too.
- I refused to let them use my spare bulb! I had a talk to give that week.
- They got out the slide viewer. The batteries went.
- Batteries plundered from elsewhere also quickly faded.
- My Mum found one of those viewers without batteries, one that you simply hold up to the light. Bill held it up to the candelabra light fitting in the lounge and, as he did so, one of the bulbs in it popped and went out.
- The next week when Bill called he was determined to see the family photographs and he came prepared with his own slide viewer. The battery in that went too.
- To round off this series of co-incidences That same evening, the faulty cine projector bulb, which had been sitting in a bowl for a couple of weeks, exploded leaving a lot of little splinters of glass.
Strange isn't it?
