When Furze is in Flower
Wild West Yorkshire nature diary, Tuesday 16th February 1999
GORSE IS IN FLOWER on Sharlston Common. The country saying is 'when furze is out of flower, kissing's out of favour'. I'm told that 'whin', a country name for Gorse, is a part of a number of the local place names.
Two Mistle Thrushes perch on roof top aerials on houses across the road.
