Jumping Spider
Wild West Yorkshire nature diary, Sunday 14th March 1999
SPIDERS HAVE NEVER BEEN ENTIRELY ABSENT during the last mild winter, orb webs have been kept in repair, but as the weather warms there is noticably more activity. A jumping spider patrols the studio wall near the window.
Red Deadnettle is in flower on disturbed ground by the canal. A speedwell puts out its clear blue flowers at the edge of a lawn. Groundsel, hardly noticed until it's time to do the weeding, is back in flower too.
The pair of Wood Pigeons is usually to be seen in just the same ivy-covered ash tree, they're occasionally joined by others, but they don't seem to have built a nest as yet.
