Waters of the EarthWild West Yorkshire nature diary, Thursday 18th March 1999FROM THE PIER of a farm track bridge over the canal a trickle from a drainage pipe has created tresses of sandy coloured dripstone. Under the road bridge across the canal discreet drips have built fragile white drinking straw stalactites. The flood on the canal side field, which a week ago attracted gulls is now no more than a memory, it's extent picked out by the gap it has left in the rows of brassica seedlings.
