EarthshineWild West Yorkshire nature diary, Saturday 20th March 1999THE BRIGHT CRESCENT MOON and Venus make an emblematic pair in the west (not as close as I've sketched here). The full globe of the Moon is visible in reflected earthshine. A Song Thrush collects wisps of dry grass and thin wiry stems around the shrub bed and carries them off to the Pyracantha. Silver grey globular cummulus clouds dapple the afternoon sky. How is it skies are so related to our emotions? They are as distant as can be from our down to earth lives.
