A LARGE BROWN Sparrowhawk, probably a female, flies at hedge-top height across the back lawn. I imagine that, with so many inexperienced fledgling birds around, the hunting must be good.
Later a young Robin, speckled brown but with its red breast already showing, perches on the back of a garden chair, keeping an anxious eye on the adult.
