robintoad AS SOON as I've finished clearing the nettles and wild carrot beneath the apple trees the Robin flies in to pick up insects. There's so much to go on the compost heap. As I move an old box that's lying there I expose the home of a large Toad. It squeezes itself down into its made-to-measure hole.

courgette Some of the Courgettes have grown so large, almost as long as my arm, that Barbara can get two or three batches of soup out of them.

bumble bee, Bombus terrestris (?) A large Bumble Bee with a buffish tail works the Marigold flowers with in a quick business-like way as the light fades.
