FOUR SNIPE rise from the marsh. Twenty Wigeons are feeding alongside Mallards on the open water which is unfrozen once again.
I'm hoping to see the Goldeneyes again but, apart from the resident mallards, the river has been deserted by wildfowl. It seems surprisingly quiet compared with last week when the freezing conditions had forced them away from their regular wintering quarters.
