AFTER THE cooler weather we've had recently, the few remaining blossoms on the Buddleia bushes aren't crowded with butterflies, but there does seem to be a flight of Large Whites. Two of them flutter in an aerial game of tag near a third that is feeding on a hawkweed flower by the farm.
A green Shield Bug, probably the Hawthorn Shield Bug, Acanthosoma haemorrhoidale, walks ponderously on the outside of the window pane, like a gleaming clockwork toy that is slowing down.
