heronTwo herons fly over the rooftops on their journey from Bretton Park heronry to the water courses and wetland of the Calder valley. They're grey silhouettes against a grey sky.

hawthorn bud It's a cool, wet, windy day but there's growing brightness from green shoots in the garden with more leaves bursting from the hawthorn hedge and from next door's weeping willow.next page
