 Barbara
and I have travelled to see solar eclipses in France and on the Yorkhire
coast but early this moring we didn't even make it to the back bedroom
window to see the last eclipse of the moon for
2 years. There was 100% cloud yesterday evening and 100% first thing this
morning so I guess that we didn't miss much.
It's
sunny later on. A pied wagtail perches on the apex of
next door's roof then comes down and searches the cracks between the tiles.
It's warm enough for bluebottles to appear again today
so it's probably a good day for the wagtail to search these crevices for
any sign of wintering insects stirring.
While
drawing the branches of the Turkey oak (left)
I notice only one magpie and a grey squirrel
in its branches: two of the most successful, if often most unpopular,
species to visit our gardens.
