A MALE Sparrowhawk swoops over the hedge by the bird table. He had been perching on the hedge here earlier on, so his ambush doesn't surprise any of the resident birds.
Barbara and I feel just about capable of tackling our normal walk around the valley. After being stuck indoors, even the common sights of the countryside are a refreshing change.
A breeze ripples the surface of the canal. The sun shines through a break in the cloud to bring out the ochre and steel blue of marsh.
A Kestrel struggles against the wind to perch on the top branches of a Sycamore.
