A MALE Sparrowhawk stands on the lawn directly beneath the bird feeders that I hung on the washing line yesterday. It flies off before we can tell for sure whether it has actually caught anything.
Despite the problem of pilfering Grey Squirrels, I think that the place for the feeders is close to the hawthorn hedge, so that birds can dive for cover when danger threatens. We're going to take a look at the squirrel-proof feeders that are available.
