AFTER ENJOYING this Christmas break I'm keen to engage with my work again. My occasional glimpses of the world beyond the studio include a Kestrel hovering over the wood and later perhaps the same bird flying over the garden.
The pond is unfrozen and a female Blackbird (it's a male in this animated GIF, by the way), one of several in the garden, bathes at the edge, dipping her head in the pond and shaking her wings to shower herself with water.
